John Patrick Amedori

John Patrick Amedori 1920 1080 Alyshia Ochse

John Patrick can be seen starring opposite Shailene Woodley, Gabrielle Creevy, and Betty Gilpin in the drama series “Three Women” currently airing on STARZ. John Patrick is a scene stealer as Jack, Gia’s (Woodley) love interest, who would do anything for her.

Also in television, John Patrick is often recognized for his starring role as Gabe Mitchell in Netflix’s critically acclaimed original series “Dear White People.” He also recurred as Blake Lively’s love interest on season two of “Gossip Girl,” and went on to star in VH1’s “Hindsight,” and has appeared on ABC’s “The Good Doctor,” NBC’s “Aquarius,” and Fox’s “Vanished.” Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, John Patrick grew up on the east coast and discovered his love for acting at just 12 years old. In 2000 he landed his first big break and speaking role in the critically acclaimed feature film “Almost Famous” (Dreamworks) alongside Kate Hudson, by sending director Cameron Crowe a videotape playing the guitar.  Crowe loved it so much, that he wrote a part just for John Patrick. In 2004 he appeared in the sci-fi/thriller “The Butterfly Effect” (New Line Cinema) further building his film resume, and went on to land roles in “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” (Universal Pictures) opposite Michael Cera, Kieran Culkin, and Anna Kendrick, Billy Bob Thornton’s “Jane Manfield’s Car,” “The Last Stand” (Lionsate), “Stick It” (Touchstone Pictures) and he starred in “The Vatican Tapes” (Lionsgate) opposite Michael Peña and Djimon Hounsou.

While working in film and television keeps John Patrick busy, one of his biggest passions is music. He regularly writes and records original tracks, with some of his songs being featured in his on-screen projects including “Dear White People” and his film “Stick It.” As a multi-instrumentalist, he’s currently writing songs on the ukulele. Over the years he has played in bands and written in several genres including Thrash Metal and Shoegaze – and notes some of his biggest influences are Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Pixies, and Daniel Johnston.

073: Chris Geere

073: Chris Geere 1500 750 Alyshia Ochse

Todays conversation is an open, candid, and humorous dialogue with Chris Geere who’s on-screen career began with a Coke Zero commercial in the UK, and ultimately lead him to a series regular role. He talks about getting cut from the final edit of Band of Brothers, how a clever self-tape landed him with an offer to work with M. Night Shyamalan, and honestly shares how even after booking the ever-coveted “series regular role,” he’s finding new depths to what is required of an actor and artist when a life and career changing opportunity comes to an end.

He’s most known for his hilarious and honest portrayal on the hit FXX show, You’re the Worst, as well as his work on Modern Family, After Earth, and in the soon-to-be-released film Detective Pikachu with Ryan Reynolds.

Chris Geere is a British actor born in Cambridge in 1981 and brought up in the Winchester area of Hampshire where his family still lives. He was initially interested in pursuing a career as an artist until a drama teacher encouraged him to play in his school’s production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, whereupon he admits that he was truly bitten by the acting bug. He gained a place at the Guildford School of Acting, winning out over nearly three thousand other applicants. Some time after graduation he had a spell as a bit part player with the Royal Shakespeare Company and since then has become familiar on British television, notably in the school series ‘Waterloo Road.’ In 2017 he moved to the States, appearing in Modern Family and taking the lead in the eccentric comedy drama ‘You’re the Worst.’

QUOTES:

“I thought of every single audition as “grin and bank it.” If you get the job, you need to think of it in terms of how many months rent is this.”

“I just decided that I’m going to stop trying to be what I think everyone wanted me to be, and just try and be a nice affable person that people would want to work with.”
